Have you ever seen of Tarsiers or Chocolate Hills? In Bohol they have Tarsier which are tiny Monkies, they are the second tiniest primate in the world! A Philippine Tarsier measures approximately 85 to 160 millimeters in height. Their eyes are fixed in their skull, so they cannot move their eyes. The Tarsier has the awesome ability to move its head 180 degrees! The Tarsier has great night vision and is mostly nocturnal. The Tarsier feeds on insects and has also been seen feeding on crustaceans, and small vertebrates. The Tarsier comes across as very quiet and self-conscious and is a lot of fun to watch in their dwelling.
Bohol also has chocolate hills which are actually an unusual geological formation in Bohol. There are approximately 1,776 hills spanning over 20 square miles. These hills are overgrown with a green grass that turns brown during the dry season, thus the name "chocolate". The chocolate hills are a popular tour attraction in Bohol. One legend says that the Chocolate hills were brought forth from two giants fighting that thru rocks and boulders at each other. The brawling lasted for days, the giants later became companions but the mess from the fight they forgot to clean up, hence the chocolate hills were brought forth. Whether the myth is true or not, these "Chocolate Hills", need to be experienced to really be appreciated.
There are also floating restauranta in Bohol. The restaurants are about have a several tables, a cooking area and a band. On these floating restaurants you can float up and down the river as you dine on delicious seafood's and listen to music from one of the traditional bands. The excursions up and down the river really shouldn't be excluded on your visit to Bohol! In addition to these marvelous floating restaurants they also have faster boat rides you can take up and down the river. They call Bohol "God's Little Paradise", and on the journey up and down the river you feel kind of lucky to be experiencing this great place.
I have been to a lot of hideaways in the Philippines, but I have to say, if you only have time to visit one place this might be it. There are also many other things to do in this area. I like to spend time sailing and it is a real treat to do it in such a remote location. The diving around Bohol I hear is also astonishing. The ocean around Bohol is teeming with life, and the water is clear as glass. I can call to mind the first time I had seafood here. I was so stupified by just how delicious it was! In California where I live the crabs is nothing like it is here. When the fish is reeled in this paradise, and cooked fresh, the taste must be tasted, it cannot be described!
One of the most enjoyable foods I have while I was in the area, was the accustomed Philippine BBQ. They like to cut the chicken into enjoyable small little pieces
